FAQs

In the first year, 2025, all prevocational and vocational trainees in accredited training programmes across Aotearoa New Zealand will be invited to participate. Approximately 5,000 doctors in training are currently enrolled in these programmes.

For the purpose of this survey, we consider:

  • prevocational trainees to be those doctors who are currently enrolled in the first or second year of an accredited prevocational training programme. Prevocational trainees are commonly referred to as house officers, PGY1/2 or interns.
  • vocational trainees to be those doctors who are currently enrolled in an accredited specialty training programme. Vocational trainees are commonly referred to as registrars.

Different names may be used depending on the setting or specialty.

From 2026, non-training registrars will also be able to take part.
